Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to improve skin texture and promote collagen restructuring in the dermal layers of the skin. This treatment is performed using a handheld micro-pen that vibrates at high power to pierce the superficial layer of your skin thousands of times over a few seconds. The controlled micro-injuries triggered by the needles stimulate the skin’s natural healing process. This leads to increased production of collagen and elastin, which are essential proteins for maintaining skin firmness, elasticity, and overall youthfulness.

Results gradually become visible as the skin heals, showing a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and an overall smoother, tighter, more radiant complexion.

  • Microneedling penetrates deep into your epidermis and the upper layers of the dermis to stimulate the healing response which results in:

    • A reduction in fine lines and wrinkles

    • Immediate improvement in skin texture

    • A reduction in hyperpigmentation

    • A more even skin tone

    • A reduction of pockmarks and scarring

    • A reduction of blackheads

    • General skin exfoliation for better absorption of moisturizers

    • In some cases an improvement of acne

  • Microneedling can often be combined with other treatments to enhance overall results. For instance, combining microneedling with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy, where your own blood plasma is applied to the skin, can boost collagen production and improve healing.

It can also be paired with topical serums or other skincare treatments to increase efficacy and target specific concerns like hyperpigmentation or dehydration.

  • Microneedling differs from other collagen-boosting treatments in its approach.

While microneedling creates micro-injuries to stimulate collagen production, laser treatments uses light energy to target deeper skin layers, or use heat energy to stimulate collagen.

Each method has its own benefits and may be preferred based on individual skin concerns, treatment goals, and desired outcomes.

Your Skin Care Expert can help determine which treatment or combination of treatments is best suited to your specific needs.
